Frankie & Pete

What I’ve tried to convey here is something quite challenging and hard to photograph, namely the atmosphere.

After the ceremony, we walked across the road to Jedburgh Abbey.  I absolutely love shooting into the sun which imo creates magical qualities to the images in the form of sun flares, semi circles of light, and colour streaks.  This dreamlike quality is reminiscent of ads that companies like Daisy and Coco Channel like to use, which is very Marmite.

Inside the marquee was packed to the rafters so I intentionally photographed from every corner, whether it’s in a tight gap behind the Newlyweds or from outside looking in.

Whether it’s viewing an image of the collective reaction by the guests, or the isolated nature of being that individual giving that speech, or that food waiting to be devoured the images should speak for themselves.

By using a combination of black and white to isolate, simplify, then amplify a photo where appropriate as well as using different ratios to further elevate that snap shot in time we can an image.

As ever the intention is for that couple to feel transported back into their wedding day from multiple perspectives, and for you, the viewer, to get a sense of what it was like being there.
