Once upon a long time ago, speeches were at the end of the wedding breakfast in a time honoured tradition, with the order being Father of The Bride, Groom, then Best Man. Not any more, as time are a changing.
Nowadays the biggest shift is having speeches at the start of the wedding breakfast and the breaking up of this male tradition as Brides, Maid of Honours, and even Mothers of the Brides taking their turn to speak.
I’ve known some weddings not to have any speeches, whilst others have been a kind of “grab the microphone and say your bit”, meaning this phase of the wedding can last from minutes to literally hours.
Some speeches have been like pulling your teeth out, whilst others have been enthralling, captivating the room and putting everyone through a whole range of emotions.
This wedding showcases quite a few images of three heartfelt speeches where tears and laughter flowed in equal measure.
